EN — We’re in a two–star hotel, set up like a classroom, with computers in front of us. The instructor has collected everyone’s class email addresses and sent out an Excel file, which has black–and–white photos in the cells. I can’t find the file, so I ask the other students, they say they don’t know either. When I finally access the list, I see that under my name it says eduerhanus.com. I say, “The domain is correct, but the beginning isn’t, and there’s no @ here, so it didn’t come through. Please resend it.”
The teacher is a foreigner [in Turkey], and he’s quoting lines from Turkish movies. I mention that those words are often used by conservative groups in Turkey and that I don’t personally like them.

TR — İki yıldızlı bir oteldeyiz, sınıf düzeni kurulmuş, önümüzde bilgisayarlar. Dersi veren kişi, sınıfım email adreslerini toplayıp herkese bir Excel dosyası göndermiş, kutucuklarda siyah–beyaz fotoğraflar var. Ben dosyayı bulamıyorum, diğer öğrencilere soruyorum, bilmediklerini söylüyorlar. Listeye bir şekilde ulaşınca görüyorum ki benim adımın altında eduerhanus.com yazıyor. “Mail uzantısı doğru ama başlangıcı böyle değil, arada da @ yok burada, o yüzden gelmemiş, tekrar gönderin” diyorum.
Hoca yabancı, Türk filmlerinden replikler söylüyor. Ben o kelimelerin Türkiye bağlamında muhafazakar gruplar tarafından kullanıldığını, kendim hoşlanmadığımı söylüyorum.
